This book was born from a season of unraveling and a camera. Using Polaroid emulsion lifts — a delicate process in which instant film becomes dreamlike and painterly — I wove together nature photography, pen & ink drawings, poetry, and journal entries into a visual meditation on grief and renewal. Paired with fragments from Emily Dickinson, Taylor Swift, and others who gave me words when I had none, Auroras & Sad Prose is my quiet act of faith that beauty endures — and that sometimes, all we need to heal is to show up in the woods and pay attention. A companion piece to my solo exhibit of the same name — a title borrowed from a lyric in Taylor Swift's The Lakes — opening in July.
